Core Statement: Boogie is a Sunday night freestyle dance in a casual, friendly environment where you can dance and express yourself freely, a healthy alternative to the club scene, a space that’s free of smoke and alcohol and is ear-friendly. We are a scent-free environment as some of our dancers are allergic to scented products. Rather than a non-stop electronic beat, our deejays play a wide range of music that will move you on many levels. Real music for real people!

On any given night at Barefoot Boogie, you’ll probably hear Latin, African, Middle Eastern, funk, pop, R&B, hip-hop, house, blues, downtempo electronica, electro-swing, jazz, and more. You’ll hear some things that are familiar, whether current radio hits or favorite "oldies," some that are new and unfamiliar, and some things that may even surprise you. You may find yourself dancing to things you never expected you’d dance to.
The Dance: You can dance alone, with a partner, or even with a group of people depending on the mood of the moment. Barefoot Boogie is a place where you can do your own dance in a creative, connected community space. We hope you'll join us! Dance in Berkeley Sunday night tonight.
The Music: The first hour is the warm-up – slow music for stretching, relaxing, doing contact improvisation, or just unwinding from the day. The pace picks up from there to an aerobic, ecstatic high and then drops down again for a slower, more inward journey somewhere around 9:45pm. After a few songs, the pace picks up again, and then anything goes!
Great Space: A special space, almost precious. Beautiful bamboo finished dance floor with space for shoes and clothes on the inside of the audio. Stretch mats plus a couch to sit on.
The Boogie Music Wave:  The first hour is the warm-up – slow music for stretching, relaxing, doing contact improvisation, or just unwinding from the day.
