Musically: All Ecstatic Dances are different. This one follows the general Slower Tempo Beginning for stretch and more dramatic slow dancing, a Middle of Medium tempos, and a Fast section after 9 PM. A wind-down to relax and close the night begins around 9:50 PM. One difference is that Monterey Bay also plays music with words and generally leans to music you can flow to in this huge space. So, combine that music with this space and you have a great place to dance, with or without partners, in a freestyle manner, to a wide range of lively, danceable music by inspired by rotating DJs. It is smoke-free, alcohol-free.

About: This is a unique dance among them all as it is held in the Pacific Grove large space dance hall. Some nights there is Ballroom here. The crowd are a lot of regulars and plus some tourists. Also special is that this dance draws people from Santa Cruz who make the drive just to be here. Dance tonight Friday night in Pacific Grove Monterey and Carmel.
This a scent free dance space similar to a yoga studio. Dancers are barefoot to soft-sole dance shoes. Wear comfortable clothes and bring plenty of water. There is no talking on the dance floor. Space:
Great Space: Largest all wood dance floor in Monterey Bay. Benches inside and out, twenty foot ceilings, so large it is hard not to have fun just dancing in this space. Historically Chautauqua Hall was built in 1881 by the Pacific Grove Retreat Association for presenting concerts and entertainment of the highest caliber. The building was restored in 2005 after having been declared a State Historical Landmark. Today it hosts a majority of PG classes and programs plus Ecstatic Dance Monterey bay. Come early and walk the ocean paths at the foot of the street.

Dance Jam Pacific Grove was previously in this space for 16 years. Sixteen years at Chautaugua Hall, holding dances every week with a different DJ every week. Local DJ's and Santa Cruz DJ's played the tunes of all years when Dances were named things like 'Barefoot Boogie', 'Dance Jam', 'Conscious Dance', 'Do Your Own Dance', 'Freeform Dance' and many others.
