Sasha Rose plays Opening night at Berkeley Friday Night Dance

Sasha Rose plays Opening night at Berkeley Ecstatic Jam

“She has a voice so smooth I thought it was an ancient musical instrument.”  That’s Sasha Rose, the DJ for Mark Metz’s opening night of Berkeley Dance Friday at the Sawtooth building last Friday night.  The first thing you notice when you enter the building is a separate area with chairs for removing your shoes, then stepping onto sumptuous oriental carpets.  Entrance to the large wooden dance was thru a wide portal with thin veils I parted as I entered.  Then Sasha Rose, the sound system, and everyone there just lifted me off my feet and carried me away into perfect warm place to transition me from a week of work to a weekend of personal romance.

There are many reviews of dances and DJ’s who’ve played this building, this review is about a night which exceeded performances I have seen here or at other national level venues.  Personally, I have seen and danced to Sasha Rose for over five years.  Tonight she jumped the shark and upgraded her performance to a national level.  I can suggest with great enthusiasm that you follow this rising star and catch her at her ethereal best.  As far as dancing goes, the combination of Mark Metz’s Berkeley Friday night and Sasha Rose brought me and all us dancers into an ethereal container where we danced with the room, danced with each other, and danced with ourselves.  A better night could not have been had.
